Answer part 1: Look for QUARTZ. Either in outcroppings, in bedrock, or in cobble, that quartz is a strong indicator of gold's presence. Little history: country rock and dirt is piled up. Granite (pluton) wells up into a mass of it and melts parts of it with super high-pressure steam. The steam cools, and the dissolved minerals precipitate out into veins. Quartz and gold are often found intermingled. Rain and wind erosion wash the plutons of their minerals and precious metals. Quick answer to a tricky question. Answer part II: Dig to bedrock to find the best concentrations. Answer part III: Avoid areas that are overworked.
