Arizona Mining and Mineral Museum -- There are more
than 3,000 minerals on exhibit. Highlighting the collection are the colorful minerals from
Arizonas copper mines. Among the spectacular individual specimens on display are an
eight-foot piece of native copper, a large quartz geode, rocks from the first Moon
landing, and a fragment of Meteor Craters meteorite weighing 206 pounds.
Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum -- Located in
the century-old former headquarters of the Copper Queen Consolidated Mining Company of
Bisbee, Ariz., the museum explains in words, pictures and artifacts, of why Bisbee came
about, what life here was like a century or more ago, who the residents were, where they
came from, and what they did, both for work and for entertainment in their everyday
University of Arizona Mineral Museum -- The museum
has accumulated more than 15,300 mineral specimens in the main collection and an
additional 6,100 in the micromount collection. The collection currently represents 1214
different species with 2,153
minerals presently on display. The mineral museum also has two displays of meteorites from
localities around the world.

California State Parks -- Maintains many
mining-related parks, historical towns and museums, including locations at Sutter's Fort,

Kern Valley Museum -- The Kern River Valley
Historical Society of Kernville, Calif., located in the San Joaquin Valley, presents
exhibits on Native Americans, gold mining, farming and ranching, lumbering and western
North Star Mining Museum -- Operated by the Nevada
County Historical Society, there are displays of mining equipment and artifacts from the
1880s, the largest Pelton Wheel ever constructed and the largest operational Cornish
Powder Cache Mining Collection -- Located in
downtown Georgetown, Colo., the collection is one man's effort to celebrate the history of
hard rock miners.
National Mining Hall of Fame & Museum --
Located in the1880s silver mining boomtown of Leadville, Colo., the National Mining Hall
of Fame & Museum is a monument to the memory of the men and women who pioneered the
discovery, development and processing of our nation's natural resources.
World Museum of Mining -- A national historical
site dedicated to preserving the mining, ethnic and social history of Butte, Montana.
White Pine Public Museum -- Historical photographs
depict early towns, people, buildings,
mines, businesses and lifestyles of the people of White Pine County; and historical
documents include newspapers, journals, ledgers, record books, maps, etc. to aid those
researching White Pine County, Nev.
Gold Mining Camp Museum -- This new park in
Goldvein, Va., is the only museum in Virginia solely dedicated to the history of gold and
