The
Automobile Gold Rushes and Depression Era Mining
by Charles W. Miller
Author's
comments: When my first book titled Stake Your Claim! appeared in 1992,
I received several suggestions to expand chapter 11 into another full volume. The fact
that full-fledged gold rushes occurred across the Western United States as late as the
1930s, and the relation of this event to the Great Depression was unknown even to many
academic specialists in that field. Note that the first focus is on individulas who simply
wnated to survive, but that politics and then industrial recovery were also major parts of
this unexpected tale. Hardcover - 192 pages (April 1998)
