Garmin eTrex Venture GPS

The Garmin eTrex Venture GPS receiver adds a database of world cities and 1 MB of memory to Garmin's popular eTrex model. Housed in a translucent green case, this powerful 12-parallel-channel, global positioning satellite receiver weighs only 5.3 ounces and measures 4.4 by 2 inches. It literally fits in the palm of your hand.

To make your GPS unit more useful, the Venture's 1 MB memory enables you to download waypoints information such as restaurants, hotels, shopping, and entertainment from Garmin's
MapSource CD-ROM. Once the information is loaded into the unit, you can make a selection and telephone and address information for a particular destination appears on the screen.
Address and business listings are displayed with data downloads.

The Venture has a front-panel rocker switch that allows for quick and accurate map panning. View maps on a liquid crystal display with a resolution of 288 x 160 pixels. The unit is waterproof to an IPX7 standard, so it can withstand a dunk.

The eTrex Venture maintains a tight satellite lock even in a forest. The unit can store up to 500 user waypoints with graphic icons, and boasts Garmin's own TracBack feature, which reverses your track log and helps you navigate your way back home. The eTrex Venture also uses animated graphics that will help you identify your marked waypoints quickly and easily.

The Garmin eTrex Venture comes with a PC interface cable, manual, and quick-reference card, and is covered by a one-year warranty.
